Court Remands 2 Brothers For Alleged Rape

Ado-Ekiti –   An Ado-Ekiti Chief Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday remanded two brothers–Ogunlusi Tunji, 23, and Ogunlusi Sunday, 19– for alleged rape.

‎The Prosecutor, Sgt. Bankole Olasunkanmi, told the court that the accused, committed the offence on May 15  in Ikole-Ekiti.

He said that the accused persons were charged with conspiracy as well as  defilement and rape of a 17-year-old girl by drugging her with a soft drink.

The prosecutor  said the incident led the victim to being hospitalised following  the bruises she sustained in the process.

He said the offence contravened sections 516 and 358 of Criminal Code Cap C16 Laws of Ekiti State, 2012.

The plea of the accused persons was, however,  not taken.

Olasunkanmi pleaded for  an adjournment to enable him duplicate the case file to obtain legal advice from  the Office of the Director of Public Prosecution (DPP).

‎ The Chief Magistrate, Mr Idowu Ayenimo, remanded the duo  in prison pending the receipt  of legal advice from the DPP.

He adjourned the case till June 21 for mention.
