Minna – A Minna Magistrates’ Court on Friday convicted a security guard, Ezekiel Ibrahim, but reserved his sentence until Oct. 12 for alleged housebreaking.
Magistrate Fati Auna convicted Ibrahim after he pleaded guilty to a three-count charge of housebreaking, theft and abatement.
Auna ordered the remand of Ibrahim and his co-accused, Stanley Paul, who pleaded not guilty to the charges in prison until Oct. 12.
The Prosecutor, Cpl. Husseini Paiko, had told the court that one Zephaniah Toka of Maitumbi, reported the matter at the station on Sept. 2.
Paiko said the complainant alleged that Ibrahim broke into his house and made away with three speakers and a DVD valued at N46,000 and N22,000 cash.
He said Ibrahim gave the electronics to Paul who knew they were stolen items.
The Prosecutor urged the court to try Ibrahim summarily and adjourn Paul’s case to enable police complete their investigations.
He said that the offence contravened sections 346, 288 and 86 of the Penal Code.
