KADUNA- A Kaduna Magistrates’ Court, on Thursday, has remanded two sale clerks, Timothy James, 27 and Daniel Williams, 32, charged with stealing N7.6million belonging to their employer.
James and Williams, both residents of Barnawa Kaduna, pleaded not guilty to the offences of criminal conspiracy and theft.
The Magistrate, Mr Ibrahim Emmanuel, however, ordered that the duo should be remanded in the correctional centre.
Emmanuel adjourned the case until May 26, pending their bail applications.
Earlier, the prosecutor, Insp Chidi Leo told the court that one Michael Aaron, of AA Aluminium and Steels, located at Ahmadu Bello Way Kaduna, reported the matter at the State Criminal Intelligence and Investigation Department.
Leo said that the defendants and others now at large, on March 14, conspired among themselves to steal the sum of N4 million and N3.6 million totalling N7.6 million belonging to the complainant.
The prosecutor said that the stolen money were proceeds of goods sold by the defendants which they converted to their personal use.
He said that the offences contravened sections 58 and 217 of the Penal Code of Kaduna State, 2017.
“Section 58 stipulates two years imprisonment for conspiracy, if found guilty while Section 217 stipulates five years jail term for stealing if found guilty.(NAN)
