Abuja – An FCT High Court, Apo, on Thursday ordered the remand of five men in Kuje Prison, accused of culpable homicide, robbery and criminal conspiracy.
The defendants: Samuel Kaka, 45; Abdulsalam Musa, 26; Sanusi Ibrahim, 34; Elisha Moses, 30; Prosper Amakwe, 32, and Michael Usman 24, had all denied committing the offences.
Justice Idris Kutigi, ordered that the defendants be transferred from Keffi Prison to Kuje Prison in the FCT and adjourned the case until Feb. 14 for hearing
They were docked on charges bordering on criminal conspiracy, armed robbery, causing grievous hurt and culpable homicide.
The prosecutor, Blessing Ezeala, told the court that the offences were committed on Jan. 26, 2016.
He said that they burgled two residences belonging to Messrs Kaloma Mustapha and Oscar Igbokwe, both of No. 53 Parakou Crescent Wuse 2, and No. 100 River Niger Maitama, Abuja respectively.
Ezeala said that the defendants stole telephones, laptop, computer, ipad, wrist watches, jewelries, and others items.
He further told the court that police operatives recovered from Amakwe’s residence after his arrest, two AK47 rifles.
The prosecutor alleged that the defendants shot and killed one Police Corporal, Nathaniel Danladi, and made away with his rifle.
Ezeala said that the offences contravened Sections 97 (1) and 289 of the Penal Code.
