Ile-Ife (Osun) – An Osun Magistrates’ Court sitting in Ile-Ife, on Tuesday, remanded one Mr Saka Moshood, 47, for alleged serial armed robbery and possession of firearms.
The Prosecutor, Insp Christian Olajide, told the court that the accused committed the latest offence on May 10 around 9 p.m at Balogun Village, via Ile-Ife.
Olajide said that the accused allegedly conspired with others at large to commit felony to wit: armed robbery, while armed with guns, cutlasses and other dangerous weapons.
They allegedly robbed one Olayemi Francis of three phones and cash sum of N47,000; robbed Olayemi Jonathan and Olaleke Olatunji of their cocoa beans, plantains and kolanuts, valued at N350, 000.
They were also alleged to have robbed one Asifa Ajibade of his Dorma Engine, two gallons of palm oil and cocoa beans, valued at N500,000; and one Biliaminu Babalola of his Jincheng Motorcycle, valued at N130,000.
The alleged robbery also included robbing Yekini Idowu and Muibat Muritala of their two Jincheng Motorcycles, motorcycle spare parts, Saro chemicals and kitchen utensils valued N370, 000.
Similarly, Moshood and his gang also allegedly robbed one Baderu Akingbola and Fatima Amodu of their four bags of cocoa beans, four gallons of palm oil, urtmas chemicals, four cutlasses and cocoa dryers, valued at N312, 800.
The prosecutor also stated that the accused allegedly robbed one Bolaji Adeoye of his Jincheng Motorcycle, two spraying machine and clothes, valued at N163,000.
According to him, the accused is also alleged to have conspired to rob one Eke Monday of two bottles of Germicide, cocoa beans and spraying machine, of which value is yet to be determined.
They also allegedly robbed one Wakilat Ajibade, of one Forma Engine, three gallons of palm oil and a dog, valued at N332,000.
According to him, the accused conspired with some others to commit felony to wit: stealing, assault, occasioning harm and malicious damage.
Olajide stated that the accused also stole one generator set, value yet unknown, property of Central Mosque, Balogun Village via Ile-Ife.
He told court that the accused assaulted one Joseph Oluade and Shuaibu Ojuade by inflicting deep cuts with cutlasses on their heads and all over their bodies, which caused them injuries.
They also allegedly conspired to damage one Honda Civic car, valued at N1.2 million, property of Olayemi Francis.
According to him, the offences contravened sections 1 (1), (2), (a), (b), of the Robbery and Firearms (Special Provisions) Act Cap R11 Col 14 Laws of Federation, 2004 and sections 383 (1), 390 (9) of Criminal Code, Laws of Osun, 2002.
The plea of the accused was taken from count 1-13, while he pleaded not guilty to count 14-18.
Magistrate Muhibah Olatunji refused the bail request of the accused because the court did not have jurisdiction to try the case of armed robbery and possession of firearms.
Olatunji asked the prosecutor to duplicate the case file to the office of the Director of Public Prosecution (DPP), State Ministry of Justice for legal advice.
She adjourned the case until June 26, for mention.
