Abuja – A Kabusa Grade I Area Court, Abuja on Thursday ordered that an applicant, Salisu Gambo, who allegedly stole sewing machines valued at N90,000 and fabrics from a shop, be remanded in correctional custody, pending hearing in his bail application.
The police charged Gambo with theft , criminal trespass and house breaking.
The Judge, Aliyu Kagarko, ordered that the defendant be remanded in Keffi Correctional facility until Sept.24 when bail application will be heard.
Earlier, the prosecution counsel, Mahmud Lawal, told the court that Gambo, who resides in Galadimawa village, Abuja, broke into the shop of the complainant, Mrs Ruth Adebayo of the same address on July 5, in Galadimawa village.
Lawal informed the court that the complainant, Adebayo, reported the matter at the Galadimawa police station.
He said the complainant reported that Gambo broke into her shop and carted away two sewing machines valued at N90,000 and clothing fabrics valued at N130,000.
Lawal said the offence contravened the provisions of Sections 348, 288 and 346 of the Penal Code law.
After the charge was read to him, the defendant pleaded not guilty.
