Osogbo – Two area boys, Faloye Folaranmi and Babalola Olakunle, were on Friday remanded in Ilesa prison for alleged theft of N100,000.
An Osogbo Magistrates’ Court, presided over by Mrs Olubukola Olowolagba, who remanded them, said they should be kept behind bars due to the magnitude of the offence.
The accused persons, Folaranmi, 29, and Olakunle, 24, were arraigned on a six-count charge of conspiracy, theft, malicious damage and breach of public peace against them.
The area boys popularly called “Omo-onile’’ pleaded not guilty to the charges.
The Prosecutor, Sgt. Sunday Ajayi, had told the court that the accused persons committed the offence on Aug.10 at about 11 a.m. along Jaye-Ota Efun, Osogbo.
Ajayi said the accused persons, popularly called Omo-onile, armed with charms and cutlasses collected N100, 000 from Femi Afolabi and destroyed some of his house property.
He said the offence contravened sections 516,80,407,355, 451 and 249(d) of the Criminal Code cap 34 Vol.11 laws of Osun, 2003.
Counsel to the accused Najite Okobie prayed the court to grant his clients bail in the most liberal terms.
The Magistrate, however, overruled the bail application and ordered the counsel to file a formal bail application before the next date of adjournment.
She adjourned the case till Oct.6 for hearing.(NAN)
