Ilorin – An Ilorin Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday, remanded a bricklayer, Bayo Issa, for allegedly beating up one a police woman, Ife Sylvester and inflicting injuries to her eyes.
The police charged Issa with four couynts of assault, voluntary causing hurt, mischief and attempt to commit culpable homicide.
Magistrate Abdulraheem Bello,remanded the accused, after prosecutor, Insp Zacheous Folorunsho, told the court that the police was still investigating the matter.
Bello, ordered that the accused be remanded in Okekura Prison Yard, Ilorin and adjourned the case until Dec.19 for further mention.
Earlier, the prosecutor, Folorunsho told the court that the accused was arrested on Dec.3 at the Link Guest House, Tanke, Ilorin.
Folorunsho said that the accused destroyed office equipment in the Divisional Crime Office valued at N200,000.
He also said the accused dragged an AK47 riffle from the charge room officer and attempted to pull the trigger before he was overpowered by other officers on duty.
He alleged that preliminary investigation revealed that the accused is a habitual criminal standing trial in different courts for similar offences.
The prosecutor said the offence contravened the provisions of sections 264,242, 327 and 95 of Penal Code Law.
The accused, however, pleaded not guilty to charges.
