Abuja – A Gudu Upper Area Court, Abuja, on Thursday remanded a 26-year-old driver, Kingsley Egwuenu, in prison custody for allegedly forging his boss’s signature and withdrew N1.000, 000 from his account.
Egwuenu also withdrew 2000 U.S dollars and 600 Chinese Yaun.
The Upper Area court judge, Alhaji Umar Kagarko, remanded Egwuenu of Ako Estate, Lugbe, Abuja, after he pleaded guilty to a three-count charge of criminal conspiracy, theft by servant and forgery and begged for leniency.
Kagarko, however, reserved his sentence till Nov. 2.
The Prosecutor, Donaltus Abah, told the court that Lisa Liu of CBN Estate, Apo, Abuja, reported the matter at the Apo Police Station on Sept. 4.
Abah said Liu employed Egwuenu as her driver but he criminally stole the spare keys of her house, opened her room and stole her Diamond Bank cheque book.
He further said Egwuenu forged Liu’s signature and conspired with Charles Chukwuemeka whom he handed the cheque for withdrawal of the sum of N750, 000.
He added that Egwuenu also withdrew another N250, 000 from the plaintiffs account making a total of N1, 000, 000.
He said Egwuenu also stole 2000 U.S dollars, 600 Chinese Yaun and other valuables from the complainant.
The prosecutor said during police investigations N335, 000, one generator set, DVD Player, one chair and one Toshiba Plasma Television was recovered from Egwuenu.
He further said Egwuenu admitted to have bought the said items from the money he stole from Liu and lavished the balance on food and drinks.
He said the offences contravened sections 97, 289 and 364 of the Penal Code.
