Lagos – An Ebute-Meta Chief Magistrates’ Court, Lagos, on Monday ordered that the 13 men suspected to be involved in the robbery of some banks across the state in 2015 should be remanded at Ikoyi Prisons.
The Chief Magistrate, Mrs. O.I. Adelaja, who gave the order, said the accused should be kept behind bars pending advice from the State Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP).
The accused are: Clement Abanara Million, 42; Denis Njoku, 30; Blessing Olotu, 28; Sunday Owoloko, 33; John Sabajoh, 35; and Idowu Sobijoh, 35.
Others are: Akinriyemipate Wisdom, 27; Opeyemi Balogun, 32; Olamilekan Morounkeji, 32; Ayodeji Fanimeye, 40; Mike Adebayo, 57; Monsuru Adisa, 46; and Daniel Ukaeju,50.
They are facing an 11-count charge bordering on conspiracy, unlawful killing, being armed with offensive weapons and robbery.
Counsel to the prosecutor are: Aidenogie Eno-Edobor of the Lagos State Command, Godday Osuyi and Cyril Ejiofor from the Criminal Investigations Department, Panti, Lagos.
They alleged that the accused conspired with others still at large between March and Oct. 2015 at various times to rob different banks across the state.
Osuyi said the accused took part in various robberies in the Lekki, Agbara, Festac Town and Ikorodu areas of the state, unleashing terror on the state.
He told the court that the accused, armed with AK 47, dynamites, and other offensive weapons robbed the banks within the period.
He listed the banks and the sum involved to include: Diamond and Access Banks Plc, situated at 4th Avenue, Festac Town and made away with N27 million and N29 million respectively.
Others are: First Bank Plc-N19.3 million, its branch at Ipakodo Ikorodu-N19 million, 2,759 USD and £120, Zenith Bank situated at Agbara-N190.5 million and First City Monument Bank Plc-N24 million,

He also told the court that the accused killed many people during the various operations.
He listed those killed to include, Jane Ndirika, 39, and her one-year-old son, Mmesomia Ndirika.
Others are: Insp. Bethel Agbodu, Sgt. George Odehohwo, Cpl. Ikechukwu Imoisui, policemen attached to the various banks and the attempted murder of one Samson Monday.
The offences contravened Sections 221, 228 (1), 231 and 295 (2) of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2011.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN reports that Section 295 (2) provides death penalty for the offenders.
