Court Remands Man, 29, Over Alleged House Breaking, Theft

Ado-Ekiti, – An Ado-Ekiti Chief Magistrates’ Court, on Friday, ordered the remand of a 29-year-old man, Oluwadare Ojo, in the correctional centre in Ado-Ekiti over alleged house breaking and stealing.

The defendant, whose address was not provided, is being tried for alleged house breaking and stealing.

The Police Prosecutor, Insp Akinwale Oriyomi, told the court that the defendant committed the offences on April 11 at about 4:30 a.m. at Ekute Quarters in Ado-Ekiti.

Oriyomi said that the defendant broke into the house of Olowolafe Ayokunle and Awogbemi Oladeji.

He further stated that the defendant stole an Infinix Hot 10 phone, valued at N50,000, belonging to Olowolafe Ayokunle and another Infinix Hot 20 phone, valued at N75,000, belonging to Awogbemi Oladeji.

According to him, the offences contravene Sections 322(c) and 302 of the Criminal Laws of Ekiti State, 2021.

The prosecutor urged the court to remand the defendant in a correctional centre, pending legal advice from the office of the Director of Public Prosecution (DPP).

The plea of the defendant was, however, not taken.

The Chief Magistrate, Mr Bankole Oluwasanmi, ordered the remand of the defendant in the correctional centre, pending issuance of legal advice.

He, thereafter, adjourned the case till July 7 for mention. (NAN)
