Ifetedo (Osun) – An Ifetedo Magistrates’ Court in Osun on Friday, ordered that a 29-year-old man, Adeyele Sesan, be remanded in a Nigerian Correctional Centre, for allegedly defiling three-year-old girl, pending bail.
The police charged Sesan with to four counts of unlawful carnal knowledge, assault, defilement and threat to life.
Magistrate Joseph Owowlabi, who refused the oral bail application filed by the defendant, ordered the defence counsel to file formal application for bail.
Owolawi also ordered the prosecution counsel to duplicate the case file to the office of the Director of Public Prosecution.
He adjourned the matter until March 25, for hearing.
Earlier, the Prosecution counsel, Insp Sunday Osanyintuyi, told the court that the defendant committed the offence on Feb 18, 2020 around 11 a.m. in Ifetedo, Osun.
Osanyintuyi alleged that the defendant defiled the three-year-old girl.
The prosecution also said that the defendant attempted to kill
three-year-old girl by covered up her mouth with his hand.
He said that the offence contravened the provisions of sections 3(1), (2), of the Child’s Right, Laws of Osun, 2007 and 320 (1), 355 and 360 of the criminal Code Laws of Osun, 2002.
The Defendant, however, pleaded not guilty.
The Defence Counsel, Mr Yomi Ogunlola, prayed the court to admit his client to bail in the most Liberal terms.
