Osogbo – An Osogbo Chief Magistrates’ Court in Osun on Tuesday remanded a 40-year-old man, Idowu Samuel, in Ilesa Prison over alleged contempt of court.
The Magistrate, Mr Olusegun Ayilara, ordered the defendant to be kept in prison when he failed to be in court in a case involving him.
Ayilara adjourned the case to April 24 for mention.
Samuel, who is facing a count charge bothering on court contempt, had pleaded not guilty to the charge.
The Prosecutor, Insp .Rasak Olaiwola, earlier told the court that the defendant committed the offense on April 3 at about 9:00 a.m., within the court’s jurisdiction.
Olaiwola said the defendant refused to appear for a case, MOS/619c/2017 in which he was involved, when it was called up by the court clerk.
He said the offense contravened Section 133(7) of the Criminal Code cap 34 vol. 11 laws of Osun, 2003.
