Court remands Student for alleged murder


Akure  – An Akure Chief Magistrates’ Court in Ondo State on Friday remanded a 29 year-old student, Abiodun Adepoju in prison custody for allegedly killing Falilu Bankole,33.

The Chief Magistrate, Mrs Victoria Bob-Manuel, ordered the remand of the accused pending legal advice from the state Director of Public Prosecution (DPP).

Adepoju of no fixed address was arraigned on a one-count charge of murder.

The Prosecutor, ASP Isah Atanegbe, told the court that the accused stabbed Bankole with broken bottles at the left hand over an argument.

According to him, the action of the accused resulted to the sudden death of the victim.

Atanegbe said the accused committed the offence on Oct. 31, 2015 at about 11:45 p.m. at the Beulah Primary School, Ore in Odigbo Local Government Area of Ondo State.

He said the offence contravened Section 316 and of the Criminal Code Cap 37 Vol.1 Laws of Ondo State of Nigeria, 2006.

The case was adjourned till Dec. 14, for legal advice. (NAN)
