BUJA – A Magistrates’ Court in Wuse Zone 2, Abuja, on Tuesday, sentenced one Mohammed Isah, 28, and Victor Gideon, 24, to 12 months in prison each in a three-count charge.
The convicts, charged with joint act, criminal trespass and theft, reside in Tudunwada Village and Angwan Dutse in the FCT.
The Magistrate, Aliyu Shafa, convicted Isah and Gideon without an option of fine.
Earlier, the prosecutor, Jeremiah Elijah, had told the court that one Peter Ataiyang of Lugbe, Abuja, lodged the matter at the Wuse Police Station in Abuja on May 9.
Elijah said that the convicts trespassed into Ataiyang’s compound and broke through the kitchen window to the sitting room and stole a 32-inch sharp television, an LG home theatre, a play station and a DSTV decoder.
The prosecutor said the stolen items were valued at N200,000.
He said both Isah and Gideon admitted the offence during investigation, noting that Gideon had pleaded for leniency, saying it was the devil that pushed him.
Isah said “as from today, I have changed, I will not do it again, I am the only one taking care of my sick mother, please have mercy on me.’’ (NAN)
