Benin – An Oredo Chief Magistrates’ Court in Benin on Tuesday sentenced 29-year-old Godwin Obeji and 27-year-old Fidelis Alobo to four years in prison for stealing a tricycle, popularly called Keke Napape, from one Salubi Ejiro-Lewis.
The Chief Magistrate, Isi-Ukhun Iyioha, sentenced the suspects to two years in each count charge after she found them guilty of conspiracy and stealing.
The convicts were, however, given an option of fine to the tune of N100,000 each.
Earlier, the Police Prosecutor, Insp. Thomas Ojo, told the court that the convicts stole the tricycle, valued at N650,000 on Dec. 15, 2017 on Muritala Mohammed Way, Before Ogiso Junction in Benin.
Ojo further said that the offence contravened the provisions of sections 516 and 390 (9) of the Criminal Code, Cap. 48, Vol. 11, Laws of the defunct Bendel State of Nigeria,1976 now applicable in Edo.
