ABUJA – An Upper Area Court in Kado, Abuja, on Tuesday, sentenced six men and a woman to two months in prison for constituting public nuisance.
The convicts are Salisu Haruna, Mohammed Sani, Umar James, Lawal Mohammed, Mustapha Aliyu, Sulieman Ayuba and Esther Matthew, all of Gwarimpa Village, Abuja.
The Presiding Judge, Mr Abubakar Sadiq, sentenced the seven after they all pleaded guilty to the offence.
Sadiq however, gave each of the convicts an option to pay N2,000 as fine.
He warned them to desist from such acts in future and to be of good behaviour.
Earlier, the prosecutor, Sgt. Friday Idi, had told the court that the six men and the woman were arrested by a police patrol team on June 20 in Gwarimpa Estate, Abuja.
He said the men and the woman “conducted themselves in a very bad manner which caused apprehension to the general public.’’
The prosecutor said the offence contravened the provisions of Section 183 of the Penal Code.(NAN)
