Court sentences applicant to 9 months imprisonment for breaking into shop

–  A Grade 1 Upper Area Court at Karu in Tuesday sentenced an applicant, Oriasotic Suke, nine in prison for breaking into a shop and stealing.
Suke, is no fixed address and accused stealing three bundles electric cable valued at N27,000, charged three counts criminal trespass, mischief and .
The presiding , Malam Hassan Ishaq, sentenced Suke after he pleaded guilty .
However, Ishaq gave him an option of N15,000 fine, and warned the convict stealing and engage in productive activities.
Earlier, the prosecutor, Sgt. Norgu, told the court that Mr Agbo Arinze of Apo in had lodged a report against Suke at the Apo Station June 9.
Norgu said the accused broke into Arinze’s shop and stole three bundles of electric cable valued at N27,000, and also damaged some items in the shop in the process.
He told the court further that, during , Suke claimed that he stole only one bundle and three.
The prosecutor said the offence contravened the provisions of sections 348, 327 and 287 of the Penal Code.
However, Suke pleaded guilty and begged the court to be lenient him.
“I have epilepsy. I stole only one wrap of the cable in order to sell and buy my drugs,’’ he told the court.(NAN)
