ABUJA – A 24-year-old cook, Ikaba Edward, was on Tuesday sentenced to three months imprisonment for stealing two television sets and a decoder, all valued at N240,000 by a Grade 1 Area Court Kado, Abuja.
The judge, Mr Abubakar Sadiq, however, gave the convict an option of N10,000 fine and to return the stolen items.
The convict was arraigned for stealing two television sets, DSTV decoder and a speaker, all valued at N240,000.
The prosecutor, Insp. Simon Ibrahim, had told the court that one Adesina Jimoh of Plot 539,3rd Avenue, Gwarimpa Estate reported the matter at Gwarimpa Police Station on Dec.5.
Ibrahim told the court that the accused entered the complainant’s apartment in his absence, and stole two Samsung plasma television sets, a Dstv decoder and one speaker, all valued at N240,000.
During police investigation and search at the accused house, all the stolen items were recovered in his possession, Ibrahim said.
The prosecutor said the offence contravened Section 288 of the Penal Code.
The accused pleaded guilty and begged the court to tamper justice with mercy. (NAN)
