ABUJA – A Chief Magistrates’ Court sitting in Karu, FCT, on Tuesday, sentenced one Bulus Barta of no fixed address to six months in prison for stealing a motorcycle.
The Chief Magistrate, Mrs Hadiza Dodo, passed the sentence after the accused person pleaded guilty to the charge against him.
Dodo, however, gave the convict an option to pay N5,000 fine.
The prosecutor,Cpl Silas Nanpang, told the court that the matter was reported by Bulama Mohammed of Area B, Nyanya, Abuja, on Sept. 28. [eap_ad_1] Nanpang said that the accused person entered the complainant’s compound in Area B, Nyanya, Abuja, and stole his motorcycle which he parked in the compound.
He said that the motorcycle was a Suzuki brand marked BE 11G, valued at N91,000.
He added that Barta had confessed during investigation that he committed the crime and that motorcycle was found in his possession.
The prosecutor said the offence contravened the provisions of Section 287 of the Penal Code. (NAN)
