The convict was sued by the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) for alleged dug trafficking.
Elemoro, first arraigned on April 26, 2014, had pleaded guilty to the offence for dealing in 30.5 grammes of heroine.
“That you, Abiodun Elemoro, on April 24, 2014, at Palm Church St., Lagos Island, without lawful authority, dealt in 30.5 grammes of heroine, a narcotic drug, contrary to, and punishable under Section 11(c) of NDLEA Act, Cap N30, Laws of the Federation, 2004.” the prosecutor, Mr Kalu Orji, said.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that after the accused had pleaded guilty to the charge, the court adjourned the case until June 27, 2014, for a review of fact.
NAN also reports that the matter could not, however, proceed on the said date due to the absence of the judge.
At the resumed hearing of the case on Thursday, the prosecutor, who reviewed the facts of the matter before the court, said the accused was arrested following a tip-off given to NDLEA.
“The accused also made confessional statement and pleaded with the court to temper justice with mercy.”
The accused, however, told the court that he orphan with a nine-month-old baby, pleading that he would turn a new leaf if discharged.
Justice Ofili-Ajumogobia, in his judgement, sentenced the the accused to life imprisonment with hard labour.
“The drug exhibits should be destroyed by the NDLEA if there is no appeal against this judgment within 30 days,” she held.(NAN)
