Jos – A Jos Upper Area Court sitting in Kasuwan Nama, on Friday sentenced a plumber, Chimeze Nwaya, to six months imprisonment for stealing 12 designer T-shirts.
The Judge, Yahaya Mohammed, convicted Nwaya, after he pleaded guilty to theft.
Mohammed however gave the convict an option to a fine of N25, 000.
Earlier, the police prosecutor, Insp. Monday Dabit, told the court that on Oct. 17, 2019, the complainant, Mrs Chalman Bitrus, who resides at Zaramanganda, reported the case to the police station at Anglo-Jos.
He said that the convict who resides in Rukuba, trespassed into her fashion house and stole the T-shirts.
Dabit said that during police investigation the convict admitted to committing the crime.
The police prosecutor, said the offence contravened the provisions of sections 333 and 313 of the Penal Code Law of Northern Nigeria.
