Covenant University, firm sign MoU on entrepreneurial consultancy

Lagos  –  The Covenant University, Ota, Ogun on Friday said it was set to redefine higher education delivery through the signing of a memorandum of understanding with an firm, Gold Tracks Business Palace.

This is contained in a statement signed by the Head, Information and Media unit of the institution, Mr Emmanuel Igban, and made available to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Lagos.

Gold Track Business Palace is a firm that is into Small and Medium Enterprise (SME) consultancy services.

According to the statement, under the agreement, the university seeks to get required experts to advice its graduating students and staff of the institution on relevant business clusters and franchising.

The Vice-Chancellor of the university, Prof. Charles Ayo, was quoted as describing the development as one of the best things that has ever happened to the institution.

“The university also looks forward to getting the required experts to advise its graduates and staff on relevant business clusters and franchising.

“This is just the best thing that happened to us because we will redefine higher education delivery in the country.

“We trust God that this is the beginning of greater things to happen, not just to the university but also consulting firm too.

“With the MoU, Covenant University will be a model for other universities to follow,’’ the  read in part.

Under the agreement, the firm would assist the university in its drive to develop and implement capacity training for staff and students.

It will also assist in acquiring necessary approval for the university’s research products from government agencies such as Standard Organisation of Nigeria (SON) among others.

According to the statement, the institution will also provide Gold Tracks with opportunity to market its products under the university’s Industry Partnership Initiatives.

The Managing Director of the firm, Adewole Abimbola, was also quoted as stating that the MoU had set another standard for other universities.

“We are looking forward to Covenant University’s products going all over the world.

“We believe that all we need can be produced in Nigeria, and with this agreement, we are taking the products to the world,” Abimbola. (NAN)
