Abuja (Sundiata Post) – Lagos State, the epicentre of COVID-19 in Nigeria recorded 106 infections on Friday as the Centre for Disease Control confirmed 170 new cases of the novel virus.
This renewed upsurge in number of infections in Lagos may not be unconnected with the large gathering occasioned by the #EndSARS protest witnessed in the densely populated commercial city of aquatic splendor.
The report by the NCDC released via it’s twitter handle said that the new cases were recorded from 11 states including FCT as follows:

FCT-25
Oyo-14
Edo-7
Kaduna-7
Ogun-4
Bauchi-2
Benue-2
Kano-1
Osun-1
Rivers-1
The health agency also stated that it has a total of 62,691 confirmed cases since the index case of the novel virus in the country in February and out of which a total of 58,430 have been discharged from various isolation centres across the country.
Adding that 1,144 lives have been lost to COVID-19 related complications.
