Osogbo – Mr Success Ogunkolade, a philanthropist and the Chief Executive Officer of Succex Multimedia , on Thursday distributed food items as well as hand sanitisers to 100 widow in Oriade Local Government Area of Osun.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that food Items distributed by Ogunkolade, who is an indigene of Ijebu-Ijesa includes rice, spaghetti, noddles, Maggie and milk.
Hand sanitisers and hand washing soaps were also distributed to the widow.
Ogunkolade, while distributing the food items from house to house in the town, said the gesture was his little way of supporting the widows during the lock-down in the state as directed by the government to curtail the spread of coronavirus.
NAN recalls that Gov. Gboyega Oyetola in a state broadcast on March 29, announced the total lock-down of the state for two weeks to combat the spread of the virus.
According to Ogunkolade, the items were also distributed to provide succour to indigent women, especially widows to reduce their anxiety of what to eat during the lock-down.
He said,”I am distributing these food items to widows from house to house as part of my widows mite at this period of lockdown down due to coronavirus.
“There is no doubt there will be anxiety among these women during this period of lock-down in the state and that is why I am supporting them with their immediate needs”.
Ogunkolade, who sensitised the women to the outbreak of the virus, urged them to always wash their hands and also practice good hygiene.
According to him,the virus is a challenge to humanity and does not respect status, religion, tribe or political affiliation.
Ogunkolade urged them to stay safe by following health precautions given by government and other health professionals to stop the spread.
Some of the widows however,commended Ogunkolade for the good gesture, describing it as a life saving step.
