Argungu (Kebbi State) – The National Directorate of Employment (NDE) has began production of 20,000 face masks for distribution to the people of Kebbi as part of sustained efforts aimed at containing spread of COVID-19 pandemic in the state.
The Director-General of NDE, Dr Nasir Muhammed-Ladan, disclosed this at the face masks production training of 22 females and 18 males in Argungu on Saturday.
He said the production and distribution of the face masks were being done in collaboration with ‘Future Assured’ the pet project of Wife of the President, Hajiya Aisha Buhari.
Muhammad- Ladan, who was represented by the state Coordinator of the NDE, Alhaji Abdullahi Danjuma-Machina, said the collaboration had multiple benefits.
“One of it is that over 20,000 face masks will be produced and distributed free of charge to the people of Kebbi state.
“The Federal Government’s policy on the need to patronise local raw materials will be promoted as local textile materials are used for the production of the masks.
“The NDE graduated trainees and trainers are actively and productively engaged and incentives for the production of the face masks will be given to them which will cushion the effects of the COVID-19 lockdown,” the D-G said.
