Abuja (Sundiata Post) – Plateau state on Friday took the lead on the infection table with 103 cases and Lagos state, the epicentre of the novel coronavirius came 2nd with 70 patients as the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control reported 443 new cases in Nigeria.
According to the report released by the health agency via its official twitter handle, FCT, Ondo and Edo came 3rd, 4th and 5th with 60, 35 and 27 confirmed cases respectively.
The witnessed increase for COVID-19 infections in Ondo and Edo is not unconnected with the political campaigns going on in the two states which has led to the violation of the NCDC’s COVID-19 recommended protocols of social distancing among others.
However, with the new reported cases, Nigeria has recorded a total of 45,687 confirmed cases out of which a total of 32,637 patients have been treated and discharged.
Also, the released report has it that 936 deaths have been recorded in the country since the index case that took place on February 27, 2020.
