The National Association of Proprietors of Private Schools (NAPPS) in Niger state has set up a task force to inspect the level of compliance of members towards meeting the requirements for the re-opening of schools.
The Taskforce, according to the Niger state NAPPS President, Mr Femi Alalade, will inspect all schools and any school that has not met up with the requirements needed for re-opening will not be allowed to open.
He noted that almost all the private schools across the state have carried out fumigation of its surroundings and classes and majority have certificates regarding this.
Alalade further said that members are undertaking training on health protocols by the NCDC while a portal has been set up to enable all schools to update what they have and the level of their compliance.
“All schools have been directed to provide infrared thermometer, water and soap for washing, alcohol-based sanitizer clearing of the school compounds. The need for social distancing has been emphasized upon. Members have also been told to suspend assemblies for now.”
The NAPPS Chairman said that the private schools are set and will resume on Tuesday despite the insistence of the state government that schools will resume next week.
He pleaded with the state government to allow the private schools in the state to resume while they perfect the modalities for the resumption of public schools in the state.
He however called on proprietors to take extra caution, adding; “NAPPS Niger State chapter equally wishes to advise all proprietors to maintain the standards prescribed by the health authorities guiding schools reopening.
“Our lives and the lives of our students are important. We urge them to please take extra precautions.”
The Committee set up by the state Ministry of Education is expected to submit their report today (Monday).
