Enugu – The Police Command in Enugu State says regular exercise is critical to keeping officers and men fit, agile and battle-ready in the fight against crime.
This is contained in a statement released by the command’s spokesman, Mr Ebere Amaraizu, in Enugu on Friday.
The statement also announced that arrangement had been concluded for a successful exercise tagged: “Jog/Walk for Life’’ on Dec. 18.
“As far as the herculean task of maintaining security is concerned, regular exercise – both at the command and individual levels – is essential to keep our officers and men battle-ready at all times.
“The command’s monthly exercise since its inception has helped immensely to keep police officers and men as well as other participants fit and in shape.
“This sporting exercise also is a unifying factor among officers and men as well as sister agencies and friends of the police.
“While to the civilians joining us, it has remained an instrument of longevity,’’ he said.
The statement added that the exercise would begin from the police headquarters in Enugu through major roads and streets, to a designated point.
“It will be witnessing attendance of police officers and men as well as personnel from sister security agencies, media organisations, corporate bodies, and relevant stakeholders,’’ the statement said.
