In Adamawa State, a tragic incident unfolded as 35-year-old Ishaya Markus confessed to fatally stabbing Franchise Albert, a man with whom he had been in an adulterous relationship with Albert’s wife, Libiyatu.
The confrontation took place in Fufore Local Government Area, where the couple resided. Tensions had escalated since 2022 when Albert learned of his wife’s affair with Markus, repeatedly warning them to end their relationship.
Despite Albert’s warnings, the illicit affair persisted, leading to a deadly confrontation on Sunday. Libiyatu, in her police confession, revealed the ongoing affair and detailed the marital discord it caused. She explained, “My husband had warned us when he got wind of what we were doing.
He and I fought over the issue, as a result of which I left for my parents’ house.” Despite resolving the issues with her husband, Markus continued pursuing her, culminating in the fatal fight.
Markus, admitting to the affair and the deadly outcome, shared his perspective: “On that fateful day, I went to the community where the deceased and his wife live. I went there to take her out again, but I did not meet her. A fight ensued in the course of the argument.” The altercation escalated, resulting in both parties drawing knives. Albert sustained fatal injuries, while Markus also suffered wounds to his hand and neck.
The Adamawa State Police Command, led by Commissioner Dankombo Morris, has initiated a thorough investigation. Police Public Relations Officer SP Suleiman Nguroje assured that the suspect would be properly prosecuted, ensuring justice is served in this tragic incident.
