LAGOS – The Lillypond Command of the Nigeria Customs Service (NCS), Ijora, said on Friday that it collected N5.2 billion as revenue within the first quarter of 2014. Ms Isa Tallatu, the Comptroller of the command, said this in a statement at the end of a monthly stakeholders’ meeting in Lagos. Tallatu said that the command collected over N2.2 billion as revenue in April, the first month of the second quarter, while N1.4 billion was collected in March alone, which was part of the first quarter. She attributed the revenue increase to the Pre-Arrival Assessment Report (PAAR), adding that the system had started working efficiently and was now being issued within 24 hours. Tallatu also commended the freight forwarders and other operators at the command for their compliance which aided trade facilitation. “I appreciate the efforts of everyone. In April, we made N2.2 billion as revenue. I appreciate you all for the efforts in trade facilitation. “It is good that PAAR is now coming out very well. If you upload your document, you will get your PAAR same day.” She told the freight forwarders to hold their banks accountable if there were challenges encountered in the issuance of PAAR. Tallatu further said that the command had set up a dispute resolution committee to handle all issues relating to PAAR, adding that cases should be reported to them. She advised the agents to query their respective banks If there was any delay in the release of their PAAR. (NAN)
