Lagos – The Tin Can Island Port 2 Area Command of the Nigeria Customs Service, Ijora, has trained 78 senior officers of the command on Information Communication Technology (ICT).
The Area Comptroller, Abdulkadir Dalhatu, made the disclosure on Friday in Laogs in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN).
He said that the training was to further enhance the capacity of the officers and equip them with the requisite skills needed for efficient service delivery.
“We just finished the training of 78 officers on ICT and other areas that can help our officers to discharge their duties more effectively.
“You know almost everything in the Customs is done online now.
“So, our officers need to be on top of their game so that they can give more value to their work and serve the people better,’’ he said.
Dalhatu said that the training would continue, adding that junior officers would soon be trained on ICT and other areas critical to their work.
He said that the recent change in the name of the command from Lillypond to Tin Can Island Port 2 command, was improving the fortunes of the terminal.
According to him, the rebranding has assisted the service to record more patronage.
He said the command would build on the momentum to get more patronage for the terminal.
Dalhatu said that the command had not been able to meet its N1.9 billion monthly revenue target owing to decline in activities at the ports occasioned by foreign exchange challenges.
He however assured that the terminal was blocking revenue loopholes and embarking on other measures to ensure the target was met by December. (NAN)
