BIRNIN KEBBI – Gov. Saidu Dakingari of Kebbi State has pledged to complete the construction of the permanent site of the State College of Basic and Advanced Studies before 2015.
The governor made the pledge in Birnin Kebbi when he received members of the Governing Council of the institution, led by the acting Chairman, Alhaji Mohammed Fana, on Friday.
He said contract for the construction of the permanent site inYauri would be reviewed.
The governor also promised to release N22.1 million for the registration of 706 candidates for the 2014 WAEC and NECO examinations.
Earlier, Fana had told the governor that N17.8 million was required for the payment of affiliation fees, rent and administrative expenses.
He said the institution also required additional funds for the recruitment of academic and administrative staff.
Fana said the institution now offered 37 courses compared with what it offered at its inception in 1995 when only the Interim Joint Matriculation Board (IJMB) and remedial courses were offered. (NAN).
