Bogota – Brazilian rescuers were on Wednesday searching for nine people who remained missing after a seven-storey apartment block collapsed and killed at least two people, local media reported.
Nine people have already been rescued alive from the rubble in the north-eastern city of Fortaleza.
The collapse killed a 30-year-old man who was at a shop next door, and a woman whose body has not yet been recovered from the rubble, according to dailies O Globo and Folha de Sao Paulo.
One of those who were rescued alive, is a 22-year-old student, took a selfie and sent it to his family while he was still stuck inside the ruins.
The cause of the collapse of the 40-year-old building was being investigated.
