Abuja – Aladja community in Udu Local Government Area of Delta State has raised the alarm over war demonstrations and sporadic gunshots in their community by armed Ogbe-Ijoh youths.
A leader of Aladja Community, Comrade Ighotegwolor Bezi raised the alarm in a chat with DAILY POST on Saturday.
Bezi stated that the Ogbe-Ijoh people danced into the Onos Beach area at about 12:30pm chanting war songs with the name of Aladja, thereby causing serious tension. Meanwhile a Unit of Mobile Policemen are stationed at the Aladja/Ogbe-Ijoh main road while the JTF is at the College road.
Bezi stated that the Ogbe-Ijoh people are only trying to provoke them(Aladja people) into another round of shooting, stressing that they have breached the peace pact overtures introduced by the Delta State Government.
Bezi called on the relevant security agencies to come to the rescue of Aladja people and save the lives of its people before the issue gets out of hand.
While noting that Aladja is a peace loving community, Bezi stated that he had sent a text message informing the heads of relevant security outfits in the area.
Contacted, the Mobile Police Unit Commander in Aladja community simply identified as DSP Joseph said,” I’m not aware of that Sir. I’m not in position to speak to you please,” as he banged the phone.
The Chairman of Ijaw Youth Council in Ogbe-Ijoh community, Engr Smart Okosu denied the allegations by the Aladja people saying,”For now, we are living peacefully here. Such things did not occur in my kingdom today, you can send a neutral person to confirm; everywhere is calm.”(Daily Post).
