At a meeting aimed at charting a new course for Delta State through intellectual debate in Ute-Erumu in Ika North East Local Government Area, the leaders said “the next governor must be someone that can keep faith with democratic principles, operate within the law and develop a passion for the common good”.
The leaders who examined the vision, integrity, acumen and ability to deliver of the governorship aspirants in the state, described the chairman of Nigeria Social Insurance Trust Fund (NSTIF), Dr. Ngozi Olejeme as a political leader of great stature and significance.
“What character traits qualify a person as a leader? Humility is one. Loyalty is another. Firmness and decisiveness are the others. Olejeme has a strong personality, an unassailable character and can be counted upon to deliver at any time” leader of Delta State Political and Opinion leaders Forum, Mr. James Obaigbena said in a statement issued after the meeting.
Emphasizing that Olejeme is the most visible expression of developmental politics in the state, the leaders called for gender change at the governorship level.
“In the present situation that we find ourselves in the state, the best person that can move this state forward is Dr. Ngozi Olejeme. She is a woman of great ideas, dreams and abilities. She is a woman of principle and conscience” they said.
The leaders advised the people not to mortgage themselves into the hands of power hungry hawks who don’t empathize at all with the down trodden masses.
“Whatever happens, PDP delegates in the state will definitely pick Dr. Olejeme to fly the party’s flag in the 2015 general elections and she is not going to win the 2015 governorship election marginally but convincingly”.
“Most of these aspirants, honestly after posters and billboards, they are not on ground. Most of them have not done enough for the people” the leaders said.
The meeting was attended by people from all corners of the state and all walks of life including clergymen and elder statesmen.
