Peter Obi, the Labour Party’s presidential candidate in the 2023 election, recently visited former President Olusegun Obasanjo as part of his New Year engagements.
The visit followed Obi’s earlier meetings with former military president General Ibrahim Babangida in Minna, Niger State, and ex-President Goodluck Jonathan in Abuja.
Sharing photos from his meeting with Obasanjo on the social media platform X, Obi expressed his gratitude for the opportunity to discuss national matters with the former leader.
“Yesterday, I travelled from Abuja to Lagos to visit a father figure, leader, and former President of Nigeria, His Excellency Olusegun Obasanjo, to wish him a happy new year and deliberate on issues of national concern,” Obi wrote.
Acknowledging Leadership
Obi commended Obasanjo for his fatherly advice and guidance, describing him as a leader under whom Nigeria experienced significant progress. “To date, he continues to add his voice of wisdom to solving the many challenges facing us as a nation,” Obi added.
Obasanjo, a respected statesman, served as Nigeria’s head of state from 1976 to 1979 and later as president from 1999 to 2007. His legacy continues to influence discussions on governance
