Benin- Gov. Adams Oshiomhole of Edo said the State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission (EDSOPADEC), should devote 80 per cent of its resources to funding road projects.
Oshiomhole gave the directive while inaugurating the seven member board of the commission in Benin on Thursday.
He said the benefits of road projects were unquantifiable and critical to long term infrastructure development when compared with the construction of town halls.

He also said that the need to open up rural roads could not be over emphasised, adding that apart from the beauty, villagers and travellers use the roads irrespective of areas they were domiciled.
He said the commission must move away from projects that could not be seen and concentrate on executing projects those that would affect the socio-economic lives of the people positively.
He told them to pay attention to costing, adding that government would scrutinise the activities of the commission.
Responding, Chairman of the board, Mr Vincent Uwadiae, said the commission would consolidate the achievements of the past.
Members of the board include Mr Wellington Okoh, Mr Victor Ekhator, Mr Osaretin Edoma, Prince Ehioze Erediauwa, Mr Promise Akpeto and Abbass Yakubu. (NAN)
