Abuja (Sundiata Post) — Governor of Bayelsa State, Henry Seriake Dickson, has congratulated renowned journalist and a former Managing Director of Daily Times, Dr. Yemi Ogunbiyi, as he clocked 70 on Thursday, April 13.
Dickson, while congratulating Ogunbiyi, who is also the Pro-Chancellor and Chairman Governing Council of the Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU) Ile-Ife, Osun State, noted that he has made his mark in all the fields he has found himself, which includes, journalism, academia, publishing, amongst others at 70.
In a statement by his Chief Press Secretary, Daniel Iworiso-Markson, Dickson noted that Ogunbiyi is widely known for his fearless and objective reportage, which has earned him accolades within and outside the country.
He recalled that as a founding member of the Guardian Newspaper, the erudite scholar used the paper to promote ethical standard in his profession and also pushed for a better society by keeping the government at that time alive to their responsibility.
According to him, the appointment of Ogunbiyi to head the governing board of the OAU was well deserved as his wealth of experience will be brought to bear in the institution.
While praying for God almighty to grant him more years to serve the country, Dickson also thanked him for impacting the knowledge he has gained over the years to those coming up.
