AROMO-EKITI – Rep. Oyetunde Ojo (APC-Ekiti West) on Tuesday called on Federal Government to build standard hospitals in all the geo-political zones of the country.
Ojo made the appeal in Aramoko-Ekiti during the inauguration of a 20-bed ward donated to the general hospital in the town.
He said the standard hospitals would checkmate loss of lives of Nigerians to treatable ailments.
The legislator that the Ebola Virus Disease and other dreaded diseases could have been better handled, if government could provide world class medical facilities that could treat complicated cases.
Ojo, who is the Chairman, House Committee on Communications, said the donation was to improve the medical service delivery for the people of his constituency.
He said “the equipment will be useful for the people, rather than travelling to Ado Ekiti, the state capital or neighbouring states to seek medical attention.
“I am very passionate about the welfare of my people and that is why I have to give back to the people.
“I consulted with my people on what they wanted and this is the beauty of democracy, because you cannot just impose on the people”.
On APC’s chances in 2015, Ojo was optimistic that the party would have a good outing in the general elections. [eap_ad_1] “APC is always a party to beat in Ekiti, we are on ground and we can win election here, because we have done well in terms of service delivery,” he said.
Ojo said the defeat suffered by Gov. Kayode Fayemi in the June 21 governorship election had not signalled the end of the party in the state.
He said: “It will be erroneous to think Fayemi’s loss marked the end of APC in Ekiti, people have not rejected us.
“The 2015 general elections remain the best opportunity for us as a party to tell the world that the party is still relevant in the state.
“Though, if the election actually represented the true position of Ekiti people, then we have to go back to the drawing board and re-strategise.
“The party is already doing that, but this will not in any way prejudice our rights to challenge whatever grey areas we noticed in the election,” said Ojo. (NAN)
