Hong – The District Head of Hong in Adamawa state, Alhaji Umar Muhmud, has turbarned Alhaji Abubakar Shehu -Magaji as Yaduma of Hong.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that traditional title of Yaduma is the second in hierrachy in the district and an equivalent of a prime minister in the Kilba ancestral tradition.
The traditional ruler said the appointment of the title holder was in consideration of his immense contribution to the district, especially in education and other related pursuits, saying the new Yaduma inherited his late father.
He said the Yaduma would serve as the second in command and was expected to preside over issues in the absence of the district head, adding the appointment was aporoved by the Lamido of Adamawa, Barkindo Aliyu-Mustapha.
“I expect you to discharge your duties with deligence, fear of God and respect for the cultural tradion of Kilba people,” he said.
Gov Ahmadu Fintiri, represented by the Commissioner for information and strategy, Umar Pella, commended the district head for the relative peace and stability in the area.
He said his administration would continue to support traditional institutions as custodians of peace and the cultural traditions, while calling on the newly turbarned title holder to uphold the sanctity of tradition.
Aliyu-Mustapha, the Lamidon Adamawa, represented by Abdulkadir Mbamba, the Wali of Adamawa, urged the Yaduma to discharge his duties with honesty and transparency.
“We expect you to use your position in promoting peace and stability of this district and the state at large.
The News Agency of Nigeria reports that the event was attended by the Secretary to the Federal Government (SGF), Mr Boss Mustapha, a son of the soil; Dr Aliyu Idi-Hong, a former Minister of State for Health, traditional rulers and well wishers. (NAN)
