Abuja (Sundiata Post) – Florence Otedola, widely known as DJ Cuppy, has opened up about the emptiness she once felt despite her outward success, crediting her Christian faith for helping her find true fulfilment.
In a candid Instagram video, the DJ and media personality reflected on how embracing Christianity led her to a deeper level of self-awareness. She described the faith journey as one that requires shedding ego and worldly attachments to truly walk with Christ.
“To be a follower of Christ means death of self,” Cuppy explained. “So, if I think about the thing I’m most grateful for, it’s actually self-awareness.”
Cuppy admitted that despite appearing accomplished, she felt internally lost. “I actually cannot believe how successful I was by worldly terms, but how empty I felt inside,” she revealed.
She emphasised that realising she was struggling was a turning point in her spiritual journey. “The worst thing is not being in a situation, but the worst thing is not realising that you’re actually in one,” she said. “Honestly, I’m so thankful that I realised not only that I was empty but also what I needed to fill those holes.”
Cuppy also shared a few scriptures that have inspired her transformation, citing Proverbs 3:5 — “Trust the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding” — and Romans 12:2, which urges believers to avoid conforming to the world’s ways and instead allow God to renew their minds.
She concluded that true peace doesn’t come from achievements or public approval, but from surrendering to a higher power and living with purpose. Her faith, she said, has given her clarity and helped her reset her priorities.
