Abuja – The Speaker, House of Representatives, Mr Yakubu Dogara, has expressed sadness over the death of the Chairman of Chanchangi Airlines, Alhaji Ahmadu Chanchangi.
The Speaker expressed his condolence in a statement on Wednesday in Abuja by Mr Turaki Hassan, his Special Adviser on Media and Public Affairs.
Commiserating with the Chanchangi family, relatives, friends and associates over the death of the business mogul, Dogara described him as a great community leader.
He said “Alhaji Ahmadu Chanchangi was a businessman whose legacy of charity and humanitarian service to the people endeared him to everyone.
“Death is, however, a necessary end that must come when it shall.
“We are, however, consoled that Chanchangi contributed positively to the development of the society during his life time.
“He left an indelible footprint on the sand of time and a legacy of philanthropy, community development and service to the society and the nation.”
He admonished the children and grandchildren to emulate the virtues of honesty and hard work which he said the late Chanchangi represented.
He added that “on behalf of the leadership and the entire members of the House, I sincerely extend our heartfelt condolences to our colleague, Rep. Rufa’i and the entire Chanchangi family.
“May God grant you the fortitude to bear this irreparable loss.”
The billionaire businessman and chairman of Chanchangi Airline died at the age of
86.
Family sources said Chanchangi suffered from an undisclosed ailment and died on Wednesday morning along Kaduna-Abuja road while he was being rushed to hospital in Abuja.
The Taraba-born, Kaduna-based billionaire survived by three wives and about 33 children, among whom Rufai Chanchangi, a member of the House of representatives.
He was buried at 2 p.m. at the Bashama road cemetery in Taraba State according to Islamic injunction.
