Glo Premier League sides, Dolphins and Enyimba will battle themselves in this year’s final of the Federation Cup at the Teslim Balogun Stadium in Lagos on August 16.
Dolphins defeated National League outfit, Prime FC, 1-0 in Abuja while Enyimba also ended the run of Giwa FC with same margin in Abeokuta in the semifinals on Thursday.
Giwa FC named an almost identical starting squad that defeated Enyimba in the league on Sunday but without Chinenye Agoha and Nojeem Raji who sat all through the match due to malaria.
It was Enyimba that dominated the game but lacked the cutting edge in the final third.[eap_ad_2]
Cameroon striker, Rafael Boumsong, scored the winner for Enyimba in the 54th minute to seal their passage to the Cup final as Giwa FC finished the game with 10 men following the sending of Ifeanyi Anaemena.
It is the sixth Cup final that Enyimba will feature in after previously reaching the showpiece game in 2005, 2009, 2010, 2011 and 2013.
Dolphins, who have won the Cup four times, were made to work for the win by Prime FC.
Ebube Okpokwu’s second half goal was enough for Dolphins to set up a Cup final clash with Enyimba.
Giwa FC and Prime FC will also play in the losers’ final at the Teslim Balogun Stadium. (supersport.com)[eap_ad_3]
