Awka – Prof. Maduabuchi Dukos, a lecturer at the Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka, has commended the Federal Government for returning the country to the January-December Budget Circle.
Dukos disclosed this while speaking with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Friday in Awka.
He said the action was a pointer to the fact that the Executive and Legislature were ready to work for the nation’s common interest.
“The timely submission of the 2020 budget shows that with seriousness of purpose, Nigerians can achieve what they set to do.
“Adequate monitoring from both arms of government should be effectively carried out because the era of allowing the legislature to do the monitoring alone has gone.
“The executive has the right to watch over Ministries, Agencies and Departments (MDAs) too,” he said.
Dukos specifically commended the increase in the education budget by the legislators saying no amount was too much for the sector.
“Our education sector is grossly underfunded, increase made by the hallowed Chambers can’t be said to be much.
“But it calls for honest implementation from schools, institutions, and authorities concern for the end to justify the means,” he said.
