LAGOS – A don, Dr Ayo Fatubarin, on Tuesday urged investors to embrace opportunities available in Ijesaland, Osun State to invest.
Fatubari, a Senior Lecturer at the Department of Biological Sciences, Joseph Ayo Babalola University, Ikeji-Arakeji, Osun made the call at the Summit on Industrialisation of Ijesaland in Lagos.
He said that the industrialisation project of the Ijesaland Development Foundation (IDF) would provide opportunity for local and foreign investors.
Fatubarin assured the potential investors that they would not have cause to be apprehensive on their investment due to the calibre of people behind the project.
He advised them to invest in small and medium scale enterprises, saying that were the engine of growth in any economy.
“This is why all advanced economies of the world place much premium on them. They are also not expensive to set up.
“Ijesaland Development Foundation should work toward ensuring that the small-scale and medium-scale industries are set up in all nooks and crannies of Ijesaland.
“This is particularly so with industries for soap, yam flour, palm oil, chalk, among several others,” Fatubarin said.
He said that the project would also provide Osun government with the opportunity to demonstrate to other parts of the state.
Fatubarin also stressed the need to complement the efforts of the Osun government to develop the state.
He added that the project was a good one for the Bank of Industry and other commercial banks to finance. (NAN)
