Yola – The Department of Petroleum Resources (DPR) on Thursday appealed to petrol marketers in Adamawa to desist from sabotaging the petrol distribution chain by hoarding the product.
Mr Mohammed Alaku, DPR Zonal Controller in charge of Taraba/Adamawa, who made the call, expressed regrets that the practice had inhibited availability of the product in the state.
Alaku told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Yola that the department was doing all it could to check artificial scarcity of the product in the state.
He appealed to the marketers not to sabotage the present administration’s effort to ensure product availability and distribution.
According to him, DPR’s job is to ensure that the distribution and price is in tandem with the Federal Government’s specification.
He said that the essence of the department was to ensure that the masses were not shortchanged.
The controller observed that activities of some marketers were encouraging black marketers in the state.
He said the department would soon expose those marketers.
He gave assurance that the department, together with other relevant agencies of government, would continue to synergise to enforce government regulations on petroleum products sales.
