OKITIPUPA (ONDO STATE) – A 40-year old driver, Adeyeye Adefioye, was on Tuesday docked at an Okitipupa Magistrates’ Court in Ondo State over alleged manslaughter of a 35-year old woman, Kike Taiwo.
The accused, of no fixed address, is standing trial on two-count charge of manslaughter and dangerous driving.
The Prosecutor, Insp. Zedekiah Orogbemi, told the court that the accused, on Oct. 29 at 8.30 a.m. along Okitipupa-Ore Road in Ondo State, drove a Toyota Carina car with number – Lagos :EL 185 EKY – dangerously.
Orogbemi alleged that the driver lost control of the saloon car and hit one Kike Taiwo who was going to her farm which later caused her death.
He said that the offences contravened Sections 5 and 6 of the Federal Highway Act, Laws of Federation of Nigeria, 2004.
The accused pleaded not guilty to the charges.
The Magistrate, Mr Funsho Akintoye, granted the accused bail in the sum of N50, 000 with two sureties in like sum and who must present two years’ tax clearance.
He adjourned the case till Dec.29 for further hearing. (NAN)
