Lagos – A 36-year-old driver, Onyemechi Madubike, who allegedly stole two packs of iphone screen valued at N600,000 from one Amidu Tahir, was on Wednesday arraigned in an Ikeja Senior Magistrates’ Court in Lagos.
Madubike, who resides at No. 179 Alapara St., Akute, Ogun, is facing a charge of stealing.
The Prosecutor, Insp Ezekiel Ayorinde, told the court that the accused committed the offence on Jan. 10 at Bestway Transport Park on old Abeokuta Road, Agege, Lagos.
Ayorinde said that the accused stole two packs of iphone valued at N600,000 and belonging to Tahir.
“The complainant said that he had some goods he wanted to send to his brother in the north and he decided to go to the park to look for a vehicle to convey the goods.
“When Tahir got to the park, he entered one of the transport offices and told them he had goods he wanted to send to the northern part of the country.

“The complainant was told to give his goods to Madubike who was going to drive the next bus to the north.
“Tahir said when the goods finally got to his brother in the north, his brother noticed that one of the consignment had been opened.
“When the complainant sent the list of items he sent to his brother, they noticed that two packs of iphone screen were missing.
“Tahir immediately went back to Madubike’s office to report the incident and the accused was apprehended while the matter was reported to the police,” Ayorinde stated.
The accused, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Section 285 prescribes three-year jail term for stealing.
The Senior Magistrate, Mrs O.J. Amope, granted the accused bail in the sum of N200,000 with two sureties in like sum.
Amope adjourned further hearing in the case till Feb. 19 for mention. (NAN)
