Awka – The All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) has tasked politicians on the need for love for the masses and selflessness in the discharge of their responsibilities.
APGA National Chairman, Dr Victor Oye, who made the call in his Easter message in Awka on Saturday, said this would be in line with the teachings and practice of Jesus Christ.
He described Easter as season for people to soberly reflect on their lives and their relationship with one another.
The APGA chairman said the suffering, death and resurrection of Christ should serves as an inspiration for men of goodwill.
‘’It is that season of the year that the Christian world commemorate the mystery of Jesus Christ’s mission of salvation to the world.
“In the spirit of the season, I enjoin all to display similar love and sacrificial service to one another; let us attain that wholeness that true God intended for us by living like Christ.
“Political leaders should be guided by this worthy example and discharge their responsibilities with the disposition to make life worth living for the masses and not for their selfish gains.
”I call on Nigerians to consider the pains, suffering that Christ went through just to draw mankind to God and the assurance we have by His resurrection,” he said.
Oye said Nigerians should shun corruption, nepotism, sectionalism, hatred and violence so as to allow the love of God displayed in Jesus Christ reign.
